The Original Surf and Skate Culture

Our Story
Offshore Surfschool was born from Pedro's dream of sharing his passion for surfing, nature, and the ocean. After retiring from surf competitions, Pedro combined his accumulated experience and knowledge with his lifelong passion to create the vibrant community that Offshore has become.
Established in 2014, we know these sandy shores of Praia da Barra and surroundings like the back of our surfboards. As a family-run business deeply rooted in the local surf culture, we're committed to preserving our origins while fostering a welcoming environment where learning and fun go hand in hand. We believe in creating a laid-back and friendly environment where you can learn at your own pace while having fun.
We are dedicated to teaching the technical aspects of surfing, and to promote a sense of respect for the ocean, spreading the message that it is both a playground and a teacher. We want to inspire and nurture the next generations of surfers to chase their dreams.
Our Area and Region
We are lucky to call this place our home. Aveiro, Portugal, is a charming region known for its picturesque landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant atmosphere. Explore the iconic Aveiro Lagoon, a haven for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, or stroll through the quaint streets lined with colorful Art Nouveau buildings. Indulge in the region's culinary delights, including the famous ovos moles, and immerse yourself in its lively festivals and traditional music. With its blend of natural beauty and cultural treasures, Aveiro offers a truly unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages.

The Founder
Meet Pedro, the heart and soul behind Offshore. From his early days, Pedro practically grew up in the water, diving into surfing and skating at a young age. His journey took him to competitive surfing's highest levels. A regular at the WSL, MEO liga, ISA, he won the national championship under 18 and Europe’s Championship in 2011.
For over two decades, Pedro's passion and dedication fueled his competitive spirit, leading him to travel the world, connect with diverse cultures, and constantly hone his skills. Today, he wears many hats — as a surf instructor, father, friend, manager, lifeguard, handyman, and even a weekend chef. Yet, at his core, Pedro remains forever a surfer at heart.
